- Recipe
- Bread without the crust6 unit(s)
- Olive oil1 tablespoon
- Butter30 g
- Garlic Cloves2 unit(s)
- Rosemary sprig1 unit(s)
- Dried Oregano1 teaspoon
- Salt and Black Pepper to taste
- Remove the crusts (sides) from the bread and cut into small cubes. Peel and crush the garlic cloves very roughly (with the side of the knife blade). Now take a frying pan to the fire with the oil, butter, garlic cloves and rosemary and keep the fire very low so that the ingredients release their aroma without burning. Do this process for about 5 minutes (stirring occasionally). Increase the heat and add the bread cubes. Season with salt, oregano and black pepper (freshly ground) and let brown for about 5 to 7 minutes (stirring occasionally), until browned and dry. Remove from skillet and spread on a board to cool and remain crispy.
- TIP: - Serve over salads and soups or eat as snacks. - When the croutons are cool, transfer to an airtight container and they will stay crispy for up to a week.
