  1. Caramelize 1 cup of the sugar (without letting it burn too much). Add the rest of the sugar, enough water to form a syrup (not too thick). Add the cloves and cinnamon. Remove the pits from the jackfruit and add the berries to the syrup, let it simmer a little longer, until the natural juice of the jackfruit is incorporated into the syrup.
