Season the chicken with salt and pepper. Place the ham and cheese on top of each fillet and roll up.
Arrange the rolls on a platter. Prepare the sauce by frying the onion and garlic, finely chopped, for 5 minutes over medium heat.
Add the peppers, cut into small pieces and cover the pan with a lid.
Let it boil for 10 minutes over moderate heat.
Add the tomato sauce.
Season with black pepper and basil. Pour the resulting sauce over the chicken rolls.
